How much does this program cost?

Ghosted is a FREE offering. There is absolutely no cost associated with this program.

What themes are addressed in Ghosted?  

Ghosted addresses resiliency, personal strength, and mutual support, as well as reducing stigma around mental health, identifying healthy coping strategies, and knowing how to ask for help.

How can we explore the themes of this performance in the classroom?  

The Ghosted performance has an optional in-class workshop, in which ETP Teaching Artists visit 9th-12th grade classrooms to further explore the messages featured in the performance. When you book the performance for your school, there is a section in which you can indicate interest for this classroom workshop opportunity.

What kind of venue does this program require?

This play performs in gymnasiums, cafeterias, cafetoriums, auditoriums, libraries, and multi-purpose rooms. A 20' x 20' performance area is needed in addition to the student seating area, as well as an 8' ceiling height so that we can comfortably fit our touring set. The workshop visits individual 9th-12th grade classrooms. 

How long is the assembly?

The assembly in one hour in length. It includes a 35-minute performance and 25-minute facilitated discussion. When scheduling the assembly into your school calendar, please allot time for student seating and dismissal.

How much time does the ETP team need in the space for the school assembly?

  • We will arrive 60 minutes before the assembly start time to set up. While we prefer to have sole use of the space during this time, it is possible to share the space during the first 30 minutes of set up, as long as we still have clear access to the performance area. After that point, we will be doing sound check, and will need sole use of the space.

  • The assembly is one hour in length. Please call your students to the space ten minutes in advance of the start time to ensure that everyone is seated and ready for the performance to begin on time.

  • We will need 60 minutes to strike our equipment and load it out of the school after the assembly. While we prefer to have sole use of the space during this time, it is possible to share the space, as long as we still have clear access to exit.

  • Because this assembly has a post-show discussion, we are restricting the audience size to 200 students. To serve all of your 9th-12th Grade students, we are happy to offer back-to-back assemblies. If this is the case, please allow a minimum of 15 minutes between assemblies to allow us to reset.

Our school has more than 200 students, and so we will need to schedule two assemblies. Can we schedule one in the morning and one in the afternoon?

We prefer to do two back-to-back assemblies, so that we can visit two schools in one day. If this is absolutely impossible for your school, we may be able to do a morning and an afternoon assembly, but we request that the start times are as close to the beginning and the end of lunch as possible, so that our performance team does not have long to wait long between assemblies.

How long is workshop, and how many times will you visit each classroom?

The classroom workshop is offered in a 60 minute version and a 90 minute version. Optimally, we would like to visit students who attended the performance on a date within a month of the assembly. How many students can attend the assembly?

The minimum number of students per assembly is 50. Because there is a post-show discussion, the maximum number of students is 200. We are happy to do back-to-back performances at your school if your 9th-12th Grade population exceeds 200. It is our desire to reach as many of your 9th-12th Grade classes as possible, so please do invite everyone!

What are the technical requirements of the assembly?  

When we arrive at your school, it would be helpful to have a school representative assist us in finding the best load-in access to the performance space. We will also need someone to procure us a folding chair, a six foot table, and access to a working electrical outlet. We will bring our own sound system and microphones. A 20' x 20' performance area is needed in addition to the student seating area. 

Can our 8th graders attend the assembly?

The content of our productions is written to be grade-level appropriate, so please schedule the program for Grades 9-12 only. Thank you for your understanding. (We rotate the grade levels we serve each season, so check back with us for information about future productions appropriate for other grades!)

For more than 25 years, Kaiser Permanente has brought health education to our communities through the Educational Theatre Program (ETP). Through music, comedy, and drama, our live theater programs and artist-in-residence programs are offered to schools and communities free of charge in each of Kaiser Permanente’s seven regions. In the Northwest, Kaiser Permanente has partnered with Oregon Children’s Theatre for the last ten years to bring this vital work to our community. Kaiser Permanente is proud to support initiatives like the Educational Theatre Program (ETP) that focus on community health and well-being. Themes of past plays include obesity and bullying, healthy eating, mental health, and peer pressure. Since 1986, Kaiser Permanente’s Educational Theatre Program has reached an estimated 15,206,780 million people.
